Ciudad de México.- La siguiente semana se espera el arribo de una gran mancha de sargazo a las costas de Quintana Roo, la cual afectará principalmente la línea litoral de los 260 kilómetros de costa entre Tulum y Xcalak, indicó la Red de Monitoreo del Sargazo.
El arribo de sargazo a las costas se debe a una importante acumulación, desde hace dos semanas, de macroalgas al oeste de Jamaica, explicó en sus redes sociales la Red de Monitoreo.
La gran ‘mancha de sargazo’ mide más de 550 kilómetros de diámetro y se encuentra a casi mil kilómetros de distancia de las costas de la entidad.
Explicaron que el sargazo llegará a las costas de Quintana Roo debido a las corrientes dominantes y a la dirección de los vientos del sur-sureste.
El sargazo provocará recales de mediana a alta intensidad en prácticamente toda la costa del estado, con daños en la región centro y sur.
